Recycling News
Good news for anyone disappointed when the local council stopped recycling metal cans last year. After a lull period two new initiatives have begun:
- The Big Issue have installed collecting bins at various points in the city for easy use, often beside rubbish bins. The ease of using these will hopefully encourage many more to recycle rather than throw away cans. All proceeds will go towards the homeless, and further details can be obtained from the office on (0131) 467 0467.
- At the other end of the city ALP (Adult Learning Project based in Dalry) have launched an appeal for aluminium cans for recycling which can be dropped off at the ALP shop on Monday afternoons. Contact the Sustainable Lifestyles Action Project, who also run the Edinburgh Community Organic Garden on (0131) 337 5442 for more details.
