Citing the Edinburgh Bypass as an example, NAAG say that new roads generate new traffic - this means more pollution and more congestion and traffic on the relieved road soon returns to its former levels.
Organisations such as SPOKES, Friends of the Earth Scotland, Transform Sctoland, the Association for Public Transport, the RSPB and the Scottish Wildlife Trust have also come out against the road scheme which is estimated to cost £18.5 million.
