The competition will focus on life through the eyes of animals and will aim to encourage people to see life from an animals perspective and to give them the consideration they deserve as we approach the year 2000.
The competition is for all ages and will be in two parts. The first part will be for artwork entries, e.g. paintings, photography, drawings, etc. Entries should aim to capture animals as nature intended them to be - concentrating on their expressions and mannerisms The second part will be for poetry and short stories about animals - these should be about an animal or a shared experience with one - focusing on the special bond that can exist between humans and animals.
There will be an admission fee of £2 per entry (£1 for poems) but no limit on the number of pieces you can put into the competition.
A selection of the best pieces from the artwork section will be displayed in an exhibition to be held early in the year 2000. We will be asking each artist if they are willing to sell their work (donating the proceeds or part thereof) to help us reach our target. The best poems and short stories will be printed in a book that will also be for sale - again the proceeds going towards our target.
There will be 1st and 2nd prizes for the best entrants in each category and a prize for the overall outstanding competition winner.
If you would like any further details on the competition or for a Registration Form please contact Lesley Winton (via the Libearty Support Group details listed in the Contacts section.)
An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language. Let's use our competition to encourage people to see life through their eyes.
