The Big Blether Weekend

30 June-2 July 2000, Talamh, Lanarkshire. A chance to meet other activists, gain support and resources, and find out more about what's going on in Scotland. WE'LL BE BLETHERING ABOUT...Climbing, treehouses, tunnels, Trident, road protests, peace movement, land, women's liberation, genetics, opencast mining, globalisation, co-ops, LETS, compost loos, alternative technology, animal rights, claimants, legal stuff, community building, emotional support, green politics, bookstall, performances and more.

WE'LL BLETHER AT...Talamh community, on moorland near the M74 in Lanarkshire. There is plenty of camping space and 12 indoor beds (please book in advance if you need a bed). The Talamh cafe will provide reasonably priced vegan meals, or you can bring your own food and cooking equipment. Please don't bring dogs. Car parking is limited so cycle, use public transport and don't bring live-in vehicles if possible. Do bring warm clothes, a tent, bedding, musical instruments and inspiration! Cost for the weekend is a donation of £5-£20 depending on income.

HOW TO GET THERE...The X50 bus goes every 2 hours from Hamilton Interchange (stand 10) at 9.05,11.05 etc. Get off at Cairnhouses. The 253 goes every half hour to Coalburn, get off there and walk 2 miles in direction bus was travelling. Hamilton Central is a short train ride from Glasgow Central and 2 stops from Motherwell. By road, take the M74, leaving at junction 12 northbound or junction 11 southbound. Follow signs for Coalburn. Take the B7078 and turn off it at the signpost for Coalburn, Talamh is the first house on that road, 100 yards on the left heading west. Follow car park signs on arrival. A long distance cycle path runs parallel to the M74 in this area. Hitching, get dropped off at Cairn Lodge services, accessible from both M74 and B7078, near the Coalburn turning.
